Qi Deficiency

Listlessness, or Qi Deficiency, is another very common symptom. It might be generalised, affecting the whole body, or localised, affecting specific body parts or organ systems. Generally speaking, we can say that any kind of chronic disease is accompanied by some sort of Qi Deficiency.

Some typical symptoms of Qi Deficiency are the following:

  • Generalised weakness
  • Weakness in the hindlegs and difficulties getting up
  • Lameness that worsens after exercise
  • Exercise intolerance
  • Incontinence
  • Association with chronic cough
  • Susceptibility to infections
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chronic diarrhoea



Acupressure
  • BL 20 – 1.5 cun away from the midline, just cranial to the last rib.
  • LI 102 cun below the elbow joint between the two muscle bellies.
  • GV 14 – on the midline in front of the first (easily palpable) 1st thoracic vertebra.
  • BL 23 – 1,5 cun away from the midline, between 2nd & 3rd lumbar vertebra.
  • ST 36 – just distal to the knee joint, on the cranial border of the leg.
  • SP 06 – 3 cun proximal to hock joint, on the caudal aspect of the tibia (bone).
  • KI 07 – just cranial to the (calcaneal) tendon, 2 cun above the hock joint.
  • GV 04 – on the dorsal midline caudal to the 2nd lumbar vertebra (palpable).
